Yippa Try-On for Shopify

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 27, 2026

Provider: Yippa, Bangalore, India ("Yippa", "we", "us")

Privacy contact: team@yippa.io

This policy has separate sections for merchants using Yippa and shoppers using a Yippa virtual try-on widget on a merchant's store.

1. Merchants

Information we process

We process merchant and store information supplied through Shopify or directly to us, including the shop owner's contact email, shop domain, plan and billing records, app configuration, store and product data needed to provide the Service, support communications, and service security and usage information.

Why we use it

We use this information to provide and secure the Service, manage accounts and billing, send service and onboarding communications about the installed app, provide support, meet legal obligations, and improve the Service.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process this information to perform our contract with the merchant, comply with law, pursue legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, or with consent where consent is required. Product announcements or other marketing emails are sent only where we have an applicable lawful basis and include an unsubscribe mechanism.

We retain merchant information for the term of the account and afterward only as needed for legitimate business, legal, accounting, or dispute purposes.

Merchant privacy notices

This is Yippa's Privacy Policy; it is not the merchant's own storefront privacy notice. The merchant remains responsible for a separate privacy notice shown on its own store. When the merchant makes virtual try-on available, that notice should explain that shopper photos are processed to create try-on results, link to this Yippa Privacy Policy, and identify Yippa as a service provider or processor where appropriate.

If the merchant chooses to collect email addresses through the Service, its notice should also explain that collection and any optional marketing use. Yippa provides editable template wording in the app, but the merchant is responsible for reviewing and publishing a notice appropriate for its store and the places where it sells.

2. Shoppers using virtual try-on

Roles

The merchant operating the store is responsible for its shopper relationship and acts as the controller or business for shopper data. Yippa processes shopper data on that merchant's behalf to provide virtual try-on.

Information and purpose

When a shopper actively chooses to use virtual try-on, Yippa processes the shopper photo and the merchant's product reference to generate a try-on result. If the merchant enables an email gate and the shopper supplies an email address, we process that email for the merchant's configured try-on or email workflow. If a shopper separately opts in to the merchant's marketing, the merchant may use the email for that purpose; marketing consent is optional and can be withdrawn.

Retention

The input photo is deleted after the generation completes. The generated try-on result is retained for up to seven days so it can be viewed, downloaded, or shared, then deleted. Yippa does not provide the shopper's input photo or generated result to the merchant.

The merchant's own privacy notice may separately cover its normal storefront processing, such as account, order, cart, or site analytics data, and any email address it chooses to collect through the Service.

Service providers and transfers

We use authorised cloud infrastructure, AI, and customer-support and communications service providers to operate the Service. Where they process shopper or merchant data for us, they do so as our subprocessors under contractual safeguards. Customer-support providers may process limited account and technical information, support messages, and contact details voluntarily provided when requesting support. We do not publish proprietary model selections, prompts, or routing logic.

Rights and contact

Shoppers should first contact the merchant for privacy requests because the merchant controls the shopper relationship. Yippa assists the merchant with applicable requests and Shopify compliance processes. Shoppers may also contact team@yippa.io.

Where applicable, individuals may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to processing, or data portability. If a request concerns a store's shopper data, we may direct it to the merchant so the merchant can respond as controller.

3. Cookies, disclosures, security and changes

Our hosting and security infrastructure may process limited request and security-log information, such as IP address and request timestamps, to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service. The Try-On application does not intentionally collect or store browser or device fingerprinting data. If we introduce non-essential cookies or similar technologies where consent is required, we will provide the required notice and choices.

We disclose personal data only to the merchant, authorised subprocessors, and others where required by law or necessary to protect the Service. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data. We do not sell personal data or disclose it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

We will update this policy when our practices or legal obligations change and update the effective date above.
